Women Powering the Oppnergy Community: Meet Akwo Trinity Meuyanui – Health Leader & Program Coordinator

Women Powering the Oppnergy Community: Meet Akwo Trinity Meuyanui

Community Spotlight featuring Akwo Trinity Meuyanui, one of the remarkable women in Oppnergy community | Women’s Month

Akwo Trinity Meuyanui graduated with a nursing degree and immediately asked a bigger question: what if better healthcare started online? That question led her to found the Mommity App, step into a Program Coordinator role at Oppnergy, and build a career that bridges the clinic and the digital world in ways that are quietly changing what is possible for women in Cameroon.

This Women’s Month, we are celebrating the women in the Oppnergy community who are building things that matter and showing up for people who need them. Trinity is one of those women. Indeed, she moves between patient care, digital platforms, community programs, and public stages with the kind of quiet confidence that makes the people around her raise their own bar.

Who Is Akwo Trinity Meuyanui?

Trinity holds a BSc in Nursing and Midwifery from the University of Bamenda. But she did not spend those years quietly sitting in lectures. Rather, she served as President of the Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Association, leading her peers through the demands of one of the most human-centred courses a university can offer.

Since graduating, Trinity has built a career that covers a lot of ground. She works as a Nurse and Midwife, runs her own health tech startup called Mommity App, manages digital marketing and social media professionally, and takes stages as a Public Speaker and MC. Additionally, she serves as Media Coordinator at Togeva and is affiliated with Uni b Agency in Bamenda. None of it feels scattered when you hear her talk about it. It all comes from the same place: a deep belief that people deserve better information, better tools, and better care.

What Akwo Trinity Brings to the Women in Oppnergy Community

Trinity joined Oppnergy as Program Coordinator in February 2025 and has been shaping how this community runs and reaches people ever since. She organises programs, drives engagement, and brings the kind of energy to a room that makes other people want to do more.

Notably, she has been open about turning down other job opportunities to take this role. Not because the other options were bad, but because Oppnergy was the right fit. Knowing which opportunity to say yes to is one of the skills the Oppnergy mission actively nurtures in every member, and Trinity is one of its clearest examples.

Here is a snapshot of everything she is bringing to the table:

  • BSc in Nursing and Midwifery, University of Bamenda, and former president of the student association
  • Program Coordinator at Oppnergy since February 2025, driving community programs and leadership development
  • Founder and CEO of Mommity App, a health-focused digital platform for maternal and family wellbeing
  • Media Coordinator at Togeva, managing brand presence and digital communication
  • Affiliated with Uni b Agency, contributing digital marketing expertise across Bamenda’s growing ecosystem
  • Public Speaker and MC, leading conversations and sharing knowledge inside and beyond the community
  • Active volunteer, giving time and presence to causes that go beyond her own advancement

From Nursing to Health Tech: Trinity’s Vision for Digital Health

Crucially, Trinity does not keep her work in separate compartments. Her clinical training feeds directly into the app, the app sharpens her marketing instincts, and that marketing carries the health message further than a clinic ever could on its own. Each piece strengthens the next, and together they make her one of the most complete health advocates in the Northwest Region.

In practice, Mommity App grew out of a simple observation: mothers in Cameroon needed reliable health information, and they needed it in a format that actually worked for their lives. So Trinity built the platform to address exactly that. It is a health-focused digital tool designed to support maternal and family wellbeing, and it is perhaps the clearest expression yet of what happens when clinical knowledge meets entrepreneurial instinct.

Ultimately, this is the kind of Health Tech initiative the Oppnergy community was built to get behind.

The Numbers Behind the Women in Oppnergy Community’s Health Mission

Context matters here. And the numbers behind Trinity’s work tell you exactly why her path is as necessary as it is remarkable.

According to UNDP Africa, women represent nearly 47% of STEM graduates across Sub-Saharan Africa, yet fewer than 30% of tech and digital roles are held by women. Furthermore, McKinsey research shows that in health tech specifically, fewer than 12% of leadership positions across the continent go to women. The gap between training and power remains wide.

As UN Women highlights every Women’s Month, closing that gap requires women who step forward and build anyway. Women who create platforms, lead programs, and show the next generation that it is possible. As a result, what Trinity is doing right now in Bamenda carries weight far beyond her own career.

Why Trinity Chose to Grow with the Women in Oppnergy Community

Trinity has been open about what brought her to Oppnergy. Rather than looking for another event to attend or another name to add to her CV, she wanted a community that could hold everything she is: the nurse, the founder, the marketer, the speaker. A space where all of that made sense together.

She found it. And the women in the Oppnergy community found her.

What she credits Oppnergy for most is very specific: the clarity to recognise the right opportunity and the confidence to go after it. Turning down other roles to take this one was not a gamble. Instead, it was a decision made from knowing exactly what she wanted. That kind of alignment is what good community does for you. Learn more about what shapes this environment on the About page.

To Trinity, From Oppnergy: With So Much Pride and Gratitude

Trinity, what you are building is genuinely extraordinary. Not just Mommity App or the programs you run for Oppnergy. Not just the patients you care for and the stages you stand on. We mean all of it together, every single piece, as one full picture.

You chose to show up in spaces that were not always designed for people who think as boldly as you do. When you could have chosen differently, you chose Oppnergy. When ease was an option, you chose service instead. Those choices say everything about the kind of leader you already are.

Moreover, the women in the Oppnergy community who are watching you right now are paying attention. They are seeing that it is possible to be a nurse, a founder, a coordinator, a marketer, and a speaker at the same time. Not one after the other. Right now.

Above all, we are so proud of you. We are grateful you are here.

Here is to health, to hustle, and to you, Trinity.
